The Post Falls Police Department would like to welcome its newest member, Cell Phone Sally!
Cell Phone Sally comes to us from the great state of Texas and is here to teach your kids about 911 safety! Cell Phone Sally has established a 17-year long career in public service educating children all over the United States and beyond about how to access emergency services!
Cell Phone Sally loves nothing more than visiting local schools and daycares to teach kids how to call 911 in an emergency. During her visits, Cell Phone Sally will discuss the reason kids might need emergency services, the difference between an emergency and a non-emergency, the types of questions kids can expect to be asked on 911 and how listening to the call taker can help make sure the situation is resolved in the safest way possible.
Earlier this year, Cell Phone Sally joined patrol officers, civilian employees, and Gross Donuts staff during the Post Falls Festival Parade. Cell Phone Sally rode a balloon and donut covered float sponsored by Gross Donuts. Gross Donuts graciously donated to purchase supplies for the float and brought donuts along to pass out during the parade. Cell Phone Sally and the Post Falls Police Department hope that you enjoyed getting to meet her while celebrating our city as much as we did!
During the upcoming school year, Cell Phone Sally will be making special visits to our local schools and daycares. When you see Cell Phone Sally at your child’s school or out and about at different city events, come say “Hello”! Cell Phone Sally loves to make new friends and will always be accompanied by Post Falls Police employees that would also be more than happy to say “Hi” and answer questions or talk about your concerns.
Cell Phone Sally comes with her own theme song and instructional video! To check it out visit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ntdwyY3b8c
Cell Phone Sally was created by the Commission on State Emergency Communications in Texas in conjunction with the Public Educations of Texas. Rights to use the outfit and instructional materials were purchased by the Post Falls Police Department through a 911 grant in late 2018. Cell Phone Sally has quickly become a valued addition to our team and we look forward to introducing her to the children of our community. If you would like more information about the program or would like to have Cell Phone Sally visit your school or daycare, please give us a call at 208-773-3517 or email us at ECO@postfallspolice.gov
