The
Y.A.N.A. program is designed to provide daily phone contact to
individuals with limited family or community contacts. The
Program is a service to senior citizens of
Post
Falls
and provides telephone welfare checks for those persons living
alone that would benefit from having someone check on them on a
regular basis.
The program is designed to provide a measure of security
and well being for our seniors, handicapped or homebound
individuals who are living alone.
The VIPS will make phone calls Monday through Friday.
If contact is made, the volunteer will simply check on
them over the phone, and no further action will take place.
However, if the client doesn’t answer the phone after
several tries, an emergency contact person will be notified and
a uniformed police officer will be sent to their residence to
check on their welfare.
What
does the service cost?
The Y.A.N.A. Program is provided free of charge by the
Post Falls Police Department as a service to the community.
Who
can participate?
Anyone who lives alone within the City of Post Falls, is
ambulatory, is able to use the telephone and has an emergency
contact may apply.
