The 1st Annual Post Falls Police Cops-n-Kids and Rodders-n-More event, held on August 20, 2011, was a huge success. The event, consisting of the annual Department Open House; a vehicle show; and the various demonstrations and activites were fun events and attracted a variety of participants and specators.
The annual department Open House was well attended with many Post Falls and local area residents enjoying the variety of tours and displays located within the building. A bicycle rodeo as well as a jump house for the kids rounded the Open House. This is always a great opportunity to meet the Post Falls Police staff, an opportunity to ask any questions you may have, and tour the Post Falls Police facilities.
The vehicle show attracted 35 classic and emergency vehicles. Members of the Emergency Vehicle Owners and Operators Association as well as several local agencies including Kootenai County, Spokane Airport, Fairchild AFB Security Forces, MedStar, and Coeur d' Alene Police were in attendance. The Long Distance award went to a participant from Roy, Utah. Several major companies donated door prizes which were awarded throughout the day. Music was provided by Vern Johnson, a D.J. from Gig Harbor, WA.
Several demonstrations were held throughout the day included two K9 demonstrations by Fairchild Air Force Base Security Forces, a Post Falls Police K9 demonstrations, and the Post Falls Police SWAT team demonstrations.
At noon the vintage, retired, and in-service emergency vehicles in attendance held a one minute moment of silence followed by a lights and siren tribute to public safety/first responders. This is an important part of our event as we pay tribute to all first responders past and present.
The 2nd Annual Cops-n-Kids and Rodders-n-More event is currently in the planning stages and will be held on August 25, 2012 from 10am to 2pm. Contact John at jbujosa@postfallspolice.com for more information.
