The function of Animal Safety Section is the enforcement of City Ordinance relating to animals; care and feeding of lost or abandon animals along with the capture of those animals. The section is also responsible for the adoption of strays and those animals relinquished to the section by the owners.

Animal Safety hours vary based on calls for service but typically are:

Sunday - Saturday 

6:00 AM - 6:00 PM

The Post Falls Animal Shelter is open for adoptions 

Monday - Friday

9:00 am - 4:00pm

and by appointment only on the weekend.

We are located at 805 N. Public Works Way.

 

Licensing

Dogs in the city of Post Falls Must be licensed. To license your friend bring proof of rabies vaccination and spay or neutering to the Post Falls Police Department at:

1717 E.Polston Ave.

We are open 24 hours a day to assist you in licensing your pet.

OR

You may license your dog at the shelter when the Shelter Manager is available. Licenses are $24.00 per year for dogs that are not spayed or neutered or $12.00 a year for spayed or neutered dogs. We accept check or cash only, no debit or credit cards are accepted.

Your vet can provide written proof of vaccination and altering. Your documentation should include dates of expiration for rabies.

Impounded Dogs:

Post Falls Animal shelter has DOGS ONLY. We do not accept unwanted pets/dogs from the public. We impound stray dogs from the city of Post Falls and contract services to Kootenai County Animal Control as well. We do not impound cats or any other animals. We are located at 805 N. Public Works Way, between the Post Falls Movie Theatre and the Water Treatment Facility.We are the tan building in the middle of the field.
