It is a pleasure for me to present the 2009 Annual Report. On behalf of the entire Post Falls Police Department, we would like to thank our community for their support of their law enforcement department. Due to the loyalty and encouragement we receive from the Mayor and City Council, as well as the Citizens of Post Falls, we were able to achieve our goals in 2009.

In October 2008, the City Council approved three new patrol officer positions to increase our number of sworn officers to 1.5 per 1,000 citizens in Post Falls. The Post Falls Police Department now employs 39 sworn Police Officers, 14 Emergency Communications Officers (ECO's), 2 Animal Safety Officers, 1 Shelter Manager, 2 Crime Victim Advocates, 6 full time support staff, 3 part time support staff, and 20 Volunteers In Police Service (VIPS).

We have implemented a new K-9 Program which was approved by the City Council in September of 2009. We sent Officer Bowne to choose the dog and complete a 6 week training in November. We also involved the children in the community to choose a name for our new K-9 . The name selected was “Koda” which means ally in a native American language. Officer Bowne and Koda returned in December from the training. They continue to train and work closely together. We look forward to great success with this new program.

As we reflect on 2009, we find our vision for the future provides opportunities and challenges. The Post Falls Police Department is a nationally recognized leader in technology within law enforcement. We hope to continue to be a leader in technology and investigation techniques for the safety of our citizens. It is our intent to exceed our goals and your expectations of law enforcement by making this community a safe and great place to live.

Respectfully,
R. Scot Haug
