SUBJECT: Suspect Arrest in Drive By Shooting Cases

Post Falls Police Detectives, with the assistance of the North Idaho Regional Violent Crimes Task Force, arrested an adult male in conjunction with the recent drive by shootings in Post Falls .  During the evening hours of October 2, 2006 Post Falls and the surrounding area, experienced a series of drive by shootings, including occupied dwellings, several businesses, as well as, personal property.  Fortunately, no one was injured in the shootings.

The suspect was apprehended after a Post Falls Patrol Officer received an anonymous tip from a citizen about the crimes; this critical information was passed along to Detectives for further investigation. After collecting evidence related to the crimes and conducting interviews, Detectives contacted the suspect, last night, at his residence in Rathdrum and an arrest was made. Detectives arrested 20 year old Nicholas D. Leggett of Rathdrum in conjunction with the drive by shootings. Mr. Leggett reports that he moved to the area approximately one year ago from California .  Also confiscated was the weapon believed to be used in the crimes.

Mr. Leggett has no criminal history in the North Idaho area, and blamed his actions on his drug usage.

The Department would like to thank the citizen who provided the tip to the Department. It is with this tip, and the diligent work by the investigators involved, that this case was quickly solved.
