SUBJECT: Drive By Shootings

The Post Falls Police Department would like to alert the public to several shootings that occurred in Post Falls . The Department is investigating a series of residential and vehicular shootings, in Post Falls , during the evening hours of October 2, 2006.

The Department has received a total of six reports of vehicles and structures that were shot with a firearm. Primarily, the cases occurred along Idaho Street , Mullan Ave. , Hwy 41 and the Seltice Way corridor. One of the structures, a residence on Fountain Drive , was occupied at the time the shooting occurred. We have received no reports of injuries as of this time.

During the initial investigation, investigators have determined that a small caliber weapon was used in the shootings; the suspect is believed to be shooting from a vehicle into the structures. No suspect or vehicle information is available at this time. Once further information is available we will release it to the public.

Although it is unknown the exact time that all of these incidents occurred; investigators have confirmed several of the shootings occurred sometime between 8:00 P.M. and 9:00 P.M. on Monday, October 2, 1006.

The Post Falls Police Department has committed significant resources to solving these crimes, including increased patrols of residential neighborhoods and business areas. Firing a weapon into an occupied structure is a felony and will be prosecuted fully.
