SUBJECT:
Click IT Don't Risk IT
Date:
May 6, 2005
The
Post Falls Police Department along with the Coeur d’Alene Police
Department will be taking part in the May Click It, Don’t Risk It! Seat
belt mobilization. This will take place from May 16th through
June 5th, 2005
.
During
this time frame the two agencies will be out to help increase the seatbelt
usage rate. The National Highway Traffic Safety is hoping to see the
statewide usage rate increase to 76%, up from 74% in 2004. Failure to be
properly restrained violates
Idaho
law requiring all occupants of a vehicle to be buckled up and puts all
vehicle occupants at risk of death or injury in the event of a crash.
Idaho
law requires:
Ø
All occupants must be properly restrained.
Ø
All adult violators, 18 and older, will receive a $10.00
citation.
Ø
Adult drivers with any unbelted occupants under 18 years of
age will receive a $10.00 citation.
Drivers
under 18 years old will be cited if anyone under 18 years old is not
properly restrained. The fine will be $42.50.
Officers
will also be looking for children who are not properly restrained.
Idaho
law requires that children under 4 years old and under 40 pounds need to
be in a child safety seat.
Please,
help us do our job, by doing yours. Buckle Up!
