On June 23, 2006 at approx 05:45 A.M., the Post Falls Police Department responded to Flexcel Corporation located at 1881 West Seltice Way , for a report of a strong arm Robbery that had just occurred.  When officers arrived it was discovered that a female victim was approached by her ex-boyfriend, identified as 55-year-old Luis Manuel Gutierrez from Santa Ana , California , in the parking lot of the business.  Witnesses advised that an argument ensued over jewelry that Mr. Gutierrez had given the victim while they were previously dating. The Victim stated that she was battered several time in the face and head area and her purse was yanked from her arm by Mr. Gutierrez who than fled back to his vehicle.

Witnesses were able to obtain a license plate on the vehicle Mr. Gutierrez fled in which was determined to be a rental car from the Spokane Airport .  The vehicle information and Mr. Gutierrez’s description was given to the Spokane Airport authorities who located the vehicle Mr. Gutierrez was driving parked near the Hertz rental car office.  A short time later Mr. Gutierrez was located and taken into custody without incident as he attempted to return to the rental vehicle.  The Post Falls Police Department commends the cooperation and quick action of the Spokane Airport Police in assisting on the location and apprehension of Mr. Gutierrez.

Luis Manual Gutierrez is currently being held as the Spokane County Jail awaiting extradition back to Kootenai County on felony robbery charges.
