SUBJECT:
Suspicious Caller
Date:
December 23, 2004
On
December 23rd at 7:30pm the Post Falls Police Department
received a harassing phone call complaint from a 15-year-old female
victim. The victim stated that
she received a phone call from an unknown male claiming to be a police
officer.
The
suspect caller stated that there was a 911 call in the area and that a
male was trying to look in the victim’s window.
The suspect stated that there were police officers in the area for
surveillance and verified the victim’s address with her.
The suspect than requested the victim assistance in apprehending
the suspect. The caller began to ask questions about the victim’s
height, weight and clothing she was wearing.
The
suspect than requested the victim remove her clothing and move toward the
window.
The
Post Falls Police Department would like to advise citizens that if they
receive a similar call to get the “officer’s” name and agency he is
with and verify his authenticity by contacting their local police
department. Although it is not
uncommon for an officer or representative of a police department to
contact a citizen by phone, it is uncommon to ask the caller to
participate in an investigation that would put the caller in an
uncomfortable or dangerous situation.
