SUBJECT:
Abducted Child Located
Date:
March 31, 2004
On March 26, 2004 at
approximately 02:30 A.M., officers from the Post Falls Police Department
located a suspicious vehicle parked near the Flying J truck stop. The
vehicle was parked in a way that lead the officer to believe that the
driver may have been trying to conceal the license plate of the vehicle.
Upon further investigation, the officer determined that the van was
reported stolen from Tyler Texas and was involved in the abduction of a
child from that state.
Upon
contacting the occupants inside the van, who were sleeping, it was
determined that in addition to the vehicle being stolen, the driver of the
vehicle was wanted out of Tyler Texas for abducting his 13 year old son
from his mother in October 2003.
Tommy
Wagoner, 41 years of age, from Flint Texas, was taken into custody without
incident and is currently incarcerated at the Kootenai County Jail on
multiple charges. The 13-year-old boy will be returning to Texas.
The
officers involved in this case, Officers Mason, Marshall, Leonard and Sgt.
Goodwin, are all commended for their attention to detail, which returned a
child, who had been gone since October, to his custodial parent.
