SUBJECT: Burglary Suspect  Arrested

Date: September 9, 2005

The Post Falls Police Department arrested 20 years old Post Falls resident Shawn Gordon Smith this morning in connection with two on going business burglary investigations.  Fingerprint Evidence connected Mr. Smith to the August 15^th burglary of the “Beverage Barn Drive-thru” at 447 North Bay Street .  Video surveillance also helped identify Mr. Smith in the attempted September 8^th burglary of “Mugsy’s Espresso” at 1604 East Seltice Way .  Mr. Smith was detained early this morning while walking in a residential area of Post Falls .   A detective responded and interviewed Mr. Smith about the evidence linking him to the recent business burglaries.  During the interview with Mr. Smith he confessed to his involvement in both burglary cases.

Mr. Smith was arrested and transported to the Kootenai County Jail and charged with 2 counts of burglary.
