SUBJECT:
Bomb Threat
Date:
February 4, 2005
On
February 2, 2005 at approximately 3:30
P.M.
Kootenai
County
911 Center received a 911 call from an unknown caller who advised that
there was a bomb in “the police station”. The caller would not
identify which police station he was referring to and hung up the
telephone. KC 911 was able to determine that the caller was calling on a
cell phone from the
Post
Falls
area, but found that the cell phone had been disconnected and they were
unable to determine the call back telephone number or who the phone
belonged to.
The
Post Falls Police Department was immediately notified of the threat and
evacuated the unsecured portions of the building while a protective sweep
was conducted. Nothing suspicious was found and business resumed back to
normal within 30 minutes. The caller made several harassing 911 calls
throughout the night, but no further threats were made.
The
male caller called KC 911 again at approximately 2:00 P.M. today, and the
Kootenai County 911 operator was able to get information from the caller
that allowed the Post Falls Police Department to identify the suspect.
The
suspect is a juvenile male who lives in
Post
Falls
and due to his age his name is being withheld. Patrol Officers and
Detectives made contact with the juvenile, and his parents, at their home
and were able to obtain a confession from the child that he had call 911,
stating that he was board. He
admitted to making the harassing 911 calls from a disconnected cell phone
that he had in the home.
The
juvenile was not arrested at this time, the case remains under
investigation and charges are pending.
