SUBJECT:
Bank Robbery Suspect Apprehended
Date:
March 31, 2004
On
March 31st at about 8:30 p.m. Post Falls Police Officers
responded to the Riverbend Inn, in reference to a suspicious odor coming
from inside the business.
Once
units were on scene they contacted a female in the parking lot who was
acting suspiciously. The female identified herself to Police Officers as
Erika L. Heald. Police Officers checked her name through the National
Crime Database (NCIC) and located an FBI warrant for Ms. Heald’s arrest.
The warrant for her arrest was out of Portland, Oregon, for a Bank Robbery
that occurred on March 23, 2004. She is also a suspect in several other
Portland area robberies that have occurred since November 2003. During the
arrest Ms. Heald attempted to flee and resisted arrest. After a short
struggle Erika was placed under arrest and transported to the Kootenai
County Public Safety building.
After
investigating the original call of a suspicious odor further, it was
determined that Ms. Heald was not involved and the odor was more than
likely not the result of criminal activity.
The
FBI has taken over the investigation on this matter. See the attached FBI press
release for further details.
